INTRODUCTION
Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC)Berhampur is the first government engineering college in southern OdishaIndia. Established in 2009, the college was instituted by Naveen Patnaik, the then chief minister of Odisha.The college has one academic building , two workshop with three hall of residence , a guest house and a utility block with banking and dispensary facility. It is a constituent college of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).This college was named after the King Krushna Chandra Gajapati.the creator of modern Odisha. PMEC is NAAC accredited with B+ grade

Academic structure

The college provides 4-year Bachelor of Technology degrees in nine disciplines[3] of engineering: civil engineering, computer science engineering, automobile engineering, production engineering, chemical engineering, metallurgy and material engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. A three-year B.Tech degree for diploma holders as lateral entries is also offered. All courses are full-time.
Each academic year consists of two semesters and a summer term. The education system is organized around a credit system, which ensures continuous evaluation of a student's performance and provides flexibility to choose courses to suit the student's ability or convenience. Each course is assigned credits depending upon the class hours.

Facilities


  • Two workshop buildings.
  • 2 Hostels for boys (Kalam hall of residence) and 1 girls (Mahanadi hall of residence).
  • Library & Reference section for study purpose.
  • Multimedia Digital Language Laboratory with Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) facilities has been set up in the department to develop the English language proficiency of the students in association with IIT Kharagpur.
  • The college has a utility building and bank(syndicate bank) and a building for guests.

Admission

The intake into degree courses is made through the Joint Entrance Examination conducted each year by the government of Odisha. For lateral entry After diploma is made through the odisha joint examination conducted each year by government of oidsha.
Due less number of students in year 2017 the college conducted spot admission for the student.


Many student are placed in IOCL, BPCL, ONGC,NTPC,HPCL, BARC through GATE and also in  State level Engineering Services(AEE) of ODISHA.


Examination

Registration is required at the beginning of each semester. Students appear for examination for registered courses only. Students are eligible to appear for examinations provided they attend a minimum of 75 per cent of their theory, practical, and sessional classes scheduled during the semester.
